It’s already October, but the garden is still producing veggies! The weather is amazing, time to harvest and prepare for a fall garden.
Tomatoes are ripe and ready to eat.
I’m still getting green beans! The plant is starting to die back, but it’s still producing.
Beets are thinning out, but there’s still a few left. And lots of carrots as well as watermelon radishes.
A fall crop of Strawberries are starting to flower and fruit
Peppers and eggplant have produced well, but there are new flowers, new “fruits” of eggplant and peppers.
Basil has been producing since June. I thin out the plants, picking stems but leaving small leaves, then the plant comes back large and full. Parsley just keeps growing, time to make more tabouli.
Dried lima and Ojo de Cabra (a beautiful pinto-like bean) are now dried and ready to pick and shell. The beans go from green to red to purple to yellow-brown. They dry right on the vines.
Serrano chile peppers are bright red and plentiful.
I am clearing out the dead plants and getting ready to plant a fall garden, stay tuned for more! Plant your fall garden too.
